Heartland Sings Presents The Peacemakers in Celebration of Peace and Unity
Fort Wayne, IN – Heartland Sings captivated audiences with a performance of Karl Jenkins’ The Peacemakers at the South Side High School Auditorium. The concert brought the Fort Wayne community together in a powerful celebration of peace, harmony, and unity.
The performance served as an urgent call for peace in the present time, resonating with words from Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Teresa, Anne Frank, Rumi, Christ, the Quran, Judaism, Saint Francis of Assisi, and Bahá’u’lláh. This diverse representation of voices highlighted the shared message: "All religions, all singing one song: Peace be with you."
Robert Nance, President and Founding Artistic Director of Heartland Sings, reflected on the evening’s impact: “From the moment the performance began, you could feel the audience connecting with the message of peace. In times like these, music’s power to unite and inspire is undeniable, and The Peacemakers does just that.”
In collaboration with local organizations, including Plymouth Church, Alive Community Outreach, Fort Wayne Children's Choir, Amani Family Services, and YWCA Northeast Indiana, the event extended beyond music to foster a deeper spirit of community engagement. Each organization contributed to the evening’s theme of peace and justice for all, enhancing the sense of unity and support in the room.
The performance was made possible through generous support from the Indiana Arts Commission, Arts United, 89.1 WBOI, and the English Bonter Mitchell Foundation.
Heartland Sings’ next event, the annual Spirit of Christmas concerts, will take place on December 14-15, 2024, at the historic Allen County Courthouse. Tickets are available now.
