The power of the arts and its several outlets with Melisa McCann

Today, 07/27/2023 we interview Melisa McCann from the SUNSET MUSICA and the YMCA Renaissance Pointe to talk about her experience in the performance venue and on her several board of trustees as an advocate of the arts.

Melisa McCann, originally from Munster, IN- Received a BA in Musical Theatre performance from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. As a professional musician, Melisa has performed in numerous musical ensembles, choruses, theatrical venues, choirs, and recording projects in New York City and Chicago and has been a proud member The FW Philharmonic Chorus. In 2016 she launched her Latin Dance Band “Melisa’s Latin Beat” that has been recently featured performing at The Landing, The Embassy Theatre, The Club Room at the Clyde, Fort Wayne Festival Latino at Headwaters Park, The Tincaps, The Grand Wayne Center, and at various community events. In April 2018 she was named one of Fort Wayne Business Weekly’s 40 Under 40 Award winners and has received various community engagement awards for her social service. She is a proud member of the Fort Wayne Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Fort Wayne Ballet, Heartland Sings, and The Honeywell Foundation.

She currently holds the position of Community Outreach Director at the Renaissance Pointe YMCA where she serves in creating YMCA Arts Programming, event planning, and establishing community relationships over the past 9 years.

Christie Browning

Christie is a five-time HSPA award-winning writer with a long resume of creative, compelling writing. Her background includes journalism and marketing, which allows her to bring a specialized voice to the pieces created for her clients. On her own, Christie has written for newspapers, online magazines and major publications. For her clients, Christie produces web designs, press and media releases, blog articles, downloadable worksheets and flyers as well as social media content. Her long-time career as an entrepreneur gives her unique insight into what her clients need to promote their products, services and messages.
